However, new data uncovered by Malwarebytes shows that the dangerous malware has been particularly threatening to those in the United States. And it isn’t just businesses being targeted. Cybercriminal gangs (primarily based in Eastern and Central Europe) are consistently attacking and victimizing both American businesses and home users with ransomware.
